Privacy Policy
Who we are
The Cozy Bit is independently operated and based in Alberta, Canada. For the purposes of this Privacy Policy, “The Cozy Bit”, “we”, “us”, and “our” refer to the individual operating The Cozy Bit.
You can reach us at thecozybit@outlook.com.
What stays on your device
Everything you put in your planner (pages, notes, tasks, events, journal entries, trackers, meal plans, photos and videos) is saved only in your browser on the device you’re using. We can’t see it, and we don’t have a copy.
Backup files you download are yours. They’re saved wherever your device keeps downloads, and we never receive them.
What we collect
- Your account: your email address, the name you give us, your password (stored only in scrambled, hashed form), your beta role, and when you joined and last signed in.
- Feedback you send: what you write, your rating, any screenshot you attach, your name and email, and basic details about your device: device type, operating system, browser, screen size and app version. Please don’t put private journal text in feedback or screenshots.
- Beta waitlist: your email address, if you join the waitlist.
- Basic technical logs: like any website, our host briefly records things such as IP addresses and pages requested, to keep the service running and secure.
We don’t use advertising, we don’t sell or rent your information, and we don’t use tracking or analytics cookies.
Why we use it
- To let you sign in and to manage beta access, including when it ends.
- To read, sort and act on your feedback, and to fix problems.
- To contact you about the beta waitlist and related releases.
- To email you about the beta, for example a new version or the end of your access.
- To keep the service secure and prevent abuse.
Services that help us
- Netlify hosts the app, runs sign-in (Netlify Identity) and stores feedback and waitlist sign-ups (Netlify Forms). Its servers may be in the United States or other countries, so your information may be stored and processed outside Canada.
- Akismet checks feedback for spam on Netlify’s behalf.
Privacy law we follow
We observe Alberta’s Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA), where applicable. It sets rules for how personal information is collected, used and shared, and gives you the right to see and correct the information we hold about you. We only collect what we need for the purposes in this policy, with your consent, and we take reasonable steps to keep it secure.
How long we keep it
We keep your account while you’re part of the beta and delete it within 90 days after the beta ends, unless you join the next stage. We keep feedback for up to 24 months after the beta ends to guide the app’s development, then delete it. You can ask us to delete your account or feedback sooner at any time.
We keep waitlist email addresses until you’re invited to the beta or the beta ends, whichever comes first, then delete them. You can ask us to remove your address from the waitlist sooner at any time.
Your choices and rights
You can ask to see, correct or delete the personal information we hold about you, or withdraw from the beta at any time. Email thecozybit@outlook.com and we’ll reply within 30 days. If you’re not satisfied, you can contact the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Alberta or the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
Who the beta is for
The beta is for adults aged 18 and over. We don’t knowingly collect information from children.
Changes and contact
If we change this policy, we’ll update the date at the top and let testers know about important changes. Questions? Email thecozybit@outlook.com.
